Efrem Zimbalist Jr., the lead actor on The FBI, was born 30 November 1918 in New York. The son of a noted conductor, Efrem Zimbalist Sr., and an opera singer, Alma Gluck, he naturally drifted into a performing career from an early age.
That career went into high gear after his stint in World War II, in which he received the Purple Heart. By 1965, he already had one major television series under his belt (77 Sunset Strip), a supporting role on another series (Maverick) and movie roles. Mr. Zimbalist went on to other roles including voicing the role of Alfred Pennyworth in Batman animated cartoons between 1992 and 2004.
While he left us 6½ years ago, on 2 May 2014, Efrem Zimbalist is certainly remembered by his family, his friends and the fans! Wishing all the best!
