Leading man from 1967 to 1973, he was in all nine seasons
William Reynolds, who played Special Agent Tom Colby from 1967 to 1973, and was in all nine seasons of the series, has a special birthday today. Born 9 December 1931 in Los Angeles, he turns 90, and is the last male lead actor of the series who’s still with us.
We’ve written much about Mr. Reynolds, whom we admire greatly, but one thing that needs to be mentioned is that he is among a not-so-large group of actors who make “good guys” interesting and watchable. Off the top of our heads, we could compare him to Gary Oldman’s version of Commissioner Gordon in the Batman movies of 2005-2012.
Mr. Reynolds has a decent sized roster of film and television credits, including a memorable turn on The Twilight Zone in early 1960. His episode, “The Purple Testament,” was delayed when he experienced a plane crash in the Caribbean Sea. He and episode director Richard L. Bare (1913-2015) sustained non-serious injuries, but the episode, which was scheduled for that night, was delayed. His acting career was pretty much over by 1974, but he had roles in 1978 and 1989.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish William Reynolds a Happy Birthday, and many more years!!!
