Friday, 27 May 2022 marked the 44th anniversary of Shelly Novack’s passing, a result of a heart attack. Known for playing SAC Chris Daniels in the ninth and final season of The FBI, Mr. Novack began his acting career in 1967. His association with Quinn Martin began with a guest role on the ABC series Dan August in 1971.
And his work with Quinn Martin didn’t stop there, nor with The FBI. After the latter ended its run in 1974, Shelly Novack had a guest role in Barnaby Jones in 1975, as well as on The Streets Of San Francisco. The following year, he once again played a lawman in ABC’s Most Wanted. That only lasted one year, sadly.
And then he was gone.
According to his biography on IMDB.com, producer Quinn Martin stated that Mr. Novack had an issue with cocaine addiction, something that may have had to do with his having a heart attack at age 34. It’s not our job to judge what happened. And even if Shelly Novack’s interest lay more in sports than in acting, he still provided many fine performances. We wish his family and his fans the best!!!
