This past Thursday, 8 September 2022, marked the 48th anniversary of the final ABC broadcast of The FBI, a rerun of “The Animal.” September has always been an important month for the series, as it has also been the times for series premieres as well. Here are the dates for the beginning of each season:
- Season 1: 19 September 1965—The show begins its nine-year run.
- Season 2: 18 September 1966—Marvin Miller joins the series as narrator, a role he retains for the remainder of the series’ run.
- Season 3: 17 September 1967—William Reynolds joins the series as a regular, replacing Stephen Brooks.
- Season 4: 22 September 1968—Latest date that the season started.
- Season 5: 14 September 1969
- Season 6: 20 September 1970—Highest ratings for the series in this season.
- Season 7: 12 September 1971—Earliest start of the new season; last season that J. Edgar Hoover was director.
- Season 8: 17 September 1972—First season without J. Edgar Hoover at the helm; intro is changed for the first time in five years.
- Season 9: 16 September 1973—Shelly Novack joins the series; William Reynolds does make a guest appearance.
