Lynn Loring, who play Barbara Erskine in Season One of The FBI, and who went on into television production, passed away on 23 December 2023 at age 80. She passed away after a series of illnesses. Ms. Loring’s passing was announced on 2 April by her family.
Born Lynn Eileen Zimring on 14 July 1943 in New York, she began her acting career on the CBS soap opera Search For Tomorrow in 1951. That show aired live from New York, and ran for 15 minutes. Ms. Loring would act in that role for 10 years; by the time she left, she had made her motion picture debut in Splendor In The Grass, which starred Natalie Wood and Warren Beatty.
She continued to make television appearances before and after The FBI until 1975, when she chose to work behind the camera. She shifted into producing and worked with Aaron Spelling. In the late 1980s, she assumed the presidency of MGM/UA Television Productions. Ms. Loring, then only in her 40s, was one of the first women to hold such a high-ranking role in Hollywood.
Ms. Loring was married to Roy Thinnes, himself a star of another Quinn Martin series, The Invaders, from 1967 to 1984. She is survived by Mr. Thinnes, her two children and her second husband, Michael Bergman.
