Robert Charles Porter: Bank Robbery, Unlawful Flight, Murder.
Original broadcast date: 23 January 1966
Inspector Erskine goes undercover to crack an inter-hemisphere fugitive smuggling ring. This is one of the best episodes of the first season. Here, a bank robber commits his crime, gets shot, and then tries to get himself and his girlfriend out of the country. Because of his injury, the robber is in a race with time. The Inspector not only has to catch the robber, but also stop the smuggling ring. And he has to do this with no backup.
- Jack Betts was credited as Hunt Powers.
- Good stunt scene of Erskine crawling on the roof of a tractor/trailer. The good inspector breaks out of the back of the trailer, climbs up to the roof and walks the roof to the tractor, then disables the brake air hose so the truck stops. All of this while the truck was moving down the road.
- One of BarBara Luna’s memorable appearances on the series. This was the first of her four appearances on the series. She also appeared in “The Gray Passenger,” 29 January 1967; “The Extortionist,” 16 April 1967; and “The Young Warriors,” 9 March 1969. Due to her rich ethnic background, she often played Latinas or Native Americans.
- And Earl Holliman makes the first of four appearances in the series. He starred in the pilot episode of The Twilight Zone, which aired on 2 October 1959. In the 1970s, he was the macho partner of Angie Dickinson in NBC’s Police Woman. He remains very much alive as of August 2019.
