Lawrence Reynolds: Federal Reserve Act—Embezzlement
Original air date: 3 March 1968
This episode was not rerun.
The F.B.I and a Mob hitman both try to catch up with a bank embezzler (Bradford Dillman) who has fled to the Caribbean, specifically Puerto Rico. Good episode, with a tense chase at the end.
- A menacing performance from John Vernon (1932-2005). This Canadian actor specialized in such parts. He makes the first of four appearances on the series. Born in Saskatchewan, Canada, he had begun his career in 1956 in the movie 1984, and voiced Tony Starke/Iron Man in the Canadian-made Marvel Super Heroes animated series.
- Mako does not play a bad guy here, as he did in some other shows. He gets beaten up in the introduction in the series. Nominated for an Academy Award for his stellar performance in The Sand Pebbles, he contributed greatly in advancing Asian and Asian-American performers. He died on 21 July 2006 in Ventura County, California at age 72. RIP, and thank you, Mako!!
- The ABC series The Flying Nun, which aired from 1967 to 1970, was set in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
