Glen Parmenter et al: Espionage—Murder.
Original air date: 15 December 1968
This episode was not rerun
Inspector Lewis Erskine snares a KGB spy ring and in turn trapped by them in a deserted mountain cabin.
- Barry Morse (1918-2008) who plays the murderous spy, Glen Parmenter, is no stranger to QM aficionados. He previously appeared as Lieutenant Gerard determined to catch Dr. Richard Kimball in The Fugitive from 1963 to 1967. Although he chased Kimble (played by David Janssen) only in some 30 episodes out of 120, his presence seemed to dominate the show. He was so frequent a visitor on Canadian airwaves that he was referred to as a “test pattern.” RIP, Mr. Morse!
- The good inspector goes undercover as the new security chief at a defense plant. The “flaw” refers to a incident in the good inspector’s cover story (drug addict) that the spy ring uses to blackmail the “new security chief.” Of course, the good inspector has NO flaws and once again he cracks the case.
- Byron Keith had just finished his run as Mayor Lindseed (a takeoff on Mayor John V. Lindsay) in Batman (1966-68). He had also starred with Mr. Zimbalist on 77 Sunset Strip from 1958 to 1963. Mr. Keith makes the second of three appearances on the series.
