Frank Dixon Welles: Top Ten Fugitive—Assaulting a Federal Officer.
Original air date: 9 February 1969
Inspector Lew Erskine captures a Top 10 criminal and uncovers a plot to assassinate a senior naval officer.
- This episode is notable for the fact that this original air date is one of the dates in the 2019 Quentin Tarantino movie Once Upon A Time … In Hollywood. The two lead characters watch “Slow March Up A Steep Hill,” with Rick Dalton playing the Burt Reynolds role in what is supposed to be a fourth-season episode (that episode aired in November 1965). In reality, this is the actual episode that aired that night.
- FBI Carousel Bulletin: John Kerr, having previosly appeared as S.A.C. Gary Morgan in two episodes, becomes the fourth (!) actor to fill the part of S.A.C. William Converse. His predecessors include Don Eitner, Douglas Henderson, and Hank Brandt.
- This marks Simon Oakland’s sole appearance on the series, and he plays a bereaved Greek man, mourning the loss of his daughter. A well-respected performer for his professionalism, Mr. Oakland had residences in both California and New York City, for television, film and the theatre. He died on his 68th birthday from cancer, on 28 August 1983.
