David Mark Starret: Escaped Federal Prisoner—Interstate Transportation of Stolen Property.
Original air date: 14 December 1969
The escaped federal prisoner, David Starret, kidnaps his own son from the son’s foster parents in Albany, N.Y. The father and son travel to Texas where the good inspector finally captures him.
Once again, John Vernon plays a villain. Unlike most of his other performances, though, Mr. Vernon has some tender scenes with his son. The result is a rich, touching performance, and a fine episode.
- The 1957 Ranchero (yellow/white) is in the prologue. It is driven by a medical attendant who attempts to break up the kidnapping of the young Starret by his estranged father.
- The helo is a Hughes 500. This Hughes model was well known as the “Loach” observation helo during the Vietnam war.
- The portrayal of Albany, New York is not exactly accurate (see photo above).
