Lawrence Kulhane, Douglas Perry Waters, George Barrister: Bank Robbery—Interstate Transportation Of Stolen Motor Vehicle
Original air date: 13 February 1972

While Inspector Erskine and Agent Colby pursue Larry Kulhane and his gang for bank robbery, Kulhane plans to rob and kill a wealthy aristocrat, Adryth Nolan.
This episode was a major high point for the series because of the casting of Jessica Tandy. Bette Davis would have likely had this role, but she was banned from appearing on The FBI for being a “Communist sympathizer.” Hence, Ms. Tandy’s appearance. And she plays her character as a toughie.
This episode had aired on AOL’s In2TV. It is currently available on DVD.
Overall a good episode, but having Los Angeles stand in for a Nebraska city doesn’t work. The South Carolina “exterior” works better. Also, we get a glimpse of what was then FBI headquarters in 1971, when this was filmed.
- Guest star Jessica Tandy was the wife of actors Jack Hawkins, and (later) Hume Cronyn. This was a rare guest star role for the English-born actress, who would distinguish herself in such film productions as Driving Miss Daisy (1989, won the Oscar) and Nobody’s Fool (1994).
- Gerald S. O’Laughlin was months away from starring in the 1972-1976 ABC police drama The Rookies.
- Burr DeBenning made the fourth of his six appearances on the series.
