Dree Foster: INTERSTATE TRANSPORTATION OF STOLEN VEHICLE | UNLAWFUL FLIGHT TO AVOID PROSECUTION | MURDER
Original air date: 27 February 1972
Rerun 16 July 1972
Inspector Lew Erskine pursues Dree Foster, who engages in a cross-country crime spree across Upstate New York on his way to a secret destination. He picks up a cyclist headed to Jamestown, then dumps him in Pennsylvania. He then robs a diner, and picks up a hitchhiker (Ricky Kelman). They meet up with two other young men (Mark Hamill among them). Meantime, Dree Foster is suffering from a bad tooth, and is in great pain. Foster ends up trying to free his brother by holding a bank hostage, and the ending is a tense one.
The NY State Police Uniform is a little different that what is shown here, but this may have been due to permissions. It looks fundamentally the same. The Pennsylvania trooper uniform looks fairly authentic, though it’s more of a gray-green than the blue shown here.
- Pamela Susan Shoop is billed as Pamela Shoop.
- Mark Hamill, who has a guest appearance in this episode, was the actor who played Luke Skywalker in the successful Star Wars trilogy. He plays one of the young 18-year-olds who follow Dree Foster.
