Inspector Erskine learns that a pair who work for a trucking company in St. Louis have been helping mobster hijack their competitors’ trucks for a share in the loot. His hopes for cracking the case depends on the desires of one of the parties to end their mob ties.
We do get a gunfight that’s well staged, and Angell’s wife provides some valuable information. In Chicago, Erskine confronts Lawrence “Larry” Oldham, the tough-talking head of Interstate Trucking. And we mean confront! Oldham’s later shot at by hitman Peter Allerton.
We have a tense ending, of course, as the Feds try to save Victor Lamport’s life. They do, but
- The episode opens with the famous reverberating horns that made their debut on Season 6!
- Anthony Eisley makes his final appearance on the series, the first of 1974. He is no longer playing SAC Chet Randolph. However, Mr. Eisley is given a lot to do in this episode!
- Nancy Lamport gets to show some skin at age 46!
